李展鵬博士

Born in Macau, LEI Chin-Pang pursued his studies in Canada, Taiwan, mainland China, and the United Kingdom. He graduated from the Department of Journalism at Chengchi University in Taiwan and earned his Master’s degree in modern and contemporary Chinese literature from Sun Yat-sen University in mainland China. He then obtained a PhD in Media and Cultural Studies from the University of Sussex in England. His research interests include media studies, cinema studies, popular culture, gender studies, literary studies, globalization, post-colonial culture, urban space and culture, and celebrity studies.

 

Over the years, he has published various types of academic works, including journal articles, book chapters, and monographs. His research articles have appeared in SSCI and A&HCI journals such as Asian Studies Review, JCMS: Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, Gender, Place & Culture, Asian Journal of Communication, Interventions: International Journal of Postcolonial Studies, and Asian Journal of Social Science. Additionally, his book chapters have been included in volumes published by international publishers such as Routledge and Emerald.

 

He has written two single-authored Chinese monographs, Invisible Macau: The Ignored City and Culture (隱形澳門: 被忽視的城市與文化) and Dream and the City: Anita Mui and Hong Kong Pop Culture (夢伴此城:梅艷芳與香港流行文化), published in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

 

He has taught various courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Cinema Studies, Popular Culture and Communication, Global Media Studies, Creative and Cultural Industries, Introduction to Mass Communication, Communicating in a Global Society, Media and Current Events, Screenplay Writing, and News Writing.

 

In addition to his academic pursuits, he held the position of Editor-in-Chief of the magazine New Generation, which was published in Macau, for many years. He is now a member of the Hong Kong Film Critics Society and a columnist for the Hong Kong newspaper Ming Pao. Additionally, he has served as a juror at various film festivals in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China, including the Hong Kong International Film Festival, Golden Horse Film Festival, Chinese Film Media Awards, Taiwan International Queer Film Festival, and Taiwan International Documentary Film Festival.
