HKIEd debate team registers excellence in eloquence

Co-organised by the Liberal Party and Speaker Home, the 2006 "Liberal Cup" Inter-Varsity Debating Competition was held on 22 April 2006. The performance of the HKIEd team, on the motion "Relocating Government headquarters in Central is good for the Hong Kong public", shone through to win the second-runner-up prize in the final. Debate team member, Lee Fong-man, also won "The Best Debater" title in the competition.

Guangdong teachers experience English teaching in Hong Kong

2006 marked the seventh round of the Guangdong-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Scheme. This collaborative effort is jointly organised by The Education Bureau of Guangdong Province, Hong Kong Education and Manpower Bureau and HKIEd's English Department. In May 2006, 41 secondary school English language teachers and researchers from Guangdong participated in a three-week programme on English language teaching at the Institute. The programme consisted of a seven-module course and visits to local and international schools in Hong Kong.
