The EdUHK is committed to creating a campus that facilitates cultural diversity and a closer integration of local and non-local students.
Support Services and Integration Activities for
Non-local Students
Together with the Global Affairs Office (GAO), the Student Affairs Office (SAO) provides support services for non-local students throughout their course of studies at the University.
A wide range of services and activities including orientation, buddy scheme, community and cultural exploration activities, festival gatherings, group activities and personal guidance are offered to help the students to gain a better understanding of the Hong Kong community, to adjust to study and campus life, to foster mutual support, as well as to facilitate cultural exchange among all students.
With a view to the enhancement of students’ exposure to English-speaking and cross-cultural environments for learning, the International Tutor Scheme recruits overseas university graduates to join local students in different forms of language learning activities, co-curricular activities and intercultural events on campus.
In addition, these resident international tutors form part of the tutorial teams in facilitating and building up the English language environment in student halls and generating more opportunities for students to practise speaking English.
To enhance cultural integration between local and non-local students, the “Buddy Programmes” are designed for our students to discover more about life outside Hong Kong while remaining on campus, and to gain confidence in interacting and making friends with exchange students from all over the world.
Through a year, intercultural activities are organised to promote internationalisation on campus and support the integration of local and non-local students.
The University has signed exchange agreements with partner institutions in the Greater China region and overseas, and welcome aspiring incoming exchange students to study at the EdUHK in the Semester I and II.
Students may apply for one or both semesters through their home institutions.
To enhance students’ English language abilities and enrich students’ cultural sensitivity and understanding, EdUHK recruits International Tutors (ITs) to provide support for English language learning activities, co-curricular activities and intercultural events for students of all programmes at EdUHK. This service is supported by both the Student Affairs Office (SAO) and the Centre for Language in Education (CLE).
To enhance cultural integration between local and non-local students, “Buddy Programmes” are designed and offered to our students which provides a great opportunity to discover more about life outside Hong Kong while remaining on campus, and to gain confidence in interacting with people from overseas by making friends with exchange students.

Intercultural activities are regularly organised under the theme of “Learn Globally@EdUHK” to promote internationalisation on campus and support the integration of local and non-local students.
Global Affairs Office held the Cultural Showcase 2022 on 21 October on campus. To kick off the annual university-wide event, there was a captivating performance of traditional Chinese music and dance, jointly presented by the EdUHK Chinese Orchestra and two student dancers. Students from mainland China, Germany, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sweden, as well as our International Tutors and local students, gathered at the Central Plaza and shared with members of the EdUHK community on something special and unique about their own culture, from games, handicrafts, traditional costumes and much more.
Underscoring the theme of ‘Learn Globally@EdUHK’, the University will continue to enhance cultural learning and sharing, as well as facilitating cultural diversity and closer integration through a wide range of intercultural activities in the future.
To foster cultural and academic exchanges across borders and to provide students with opportunities to broaden their horizons, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has signed student exchange agreements with various universities in the Mainland, Taiwan, and overseas. Students of our partner universities who are interested in the Student Exchange Programmes at EdUHK should approach their university’s International Office or the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office for details of application.
