Honorable Guest Speakers
Dr. Gudrun Doll-Tepper is Professor at the Department of Sport Science of the Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin, Germany. She is President of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE), and member of the National Olympic Committee for Germany. Dr. Doll-Tepper has received numerous international awards, among others the Distinguished International Scholar Award for the International Relations Council of AAALF/AAHPERD (2000), the International FIEP Cross of Honor of Physical Education "Gold Cross" (2001), and the Paralympic Order (2002).
Dr. Ronald S. Feingold is Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Studies, Physical Education and Human Performance Science at Adelphi University, USA. He is President of the Association Internationale des Ecoles Superieures d'Education Physique (AIESEP), and past President of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). Dr. Feingold's current research interests are in the effectiveness of the Physical Best Program (fitness) on attitudes towards physical activity, and partnership between school and community. He has received numerous awards from organizations such as the American Heart Association, NAPEHE, and AAHPERD. Invited Speakers
Prof. Peter Chen is currently at the Graduate Institute of Sport Coaching Science, Chinese Culture University, Taiwan, and at the Graduate Institute of the National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan. He is the Emeritus Principal Lecturer of the Dunedin College of Education, New Zealand. Prof. Chen is the Regional Vice President for Oceania, ICHPER-SD and an International Advisor for the Asian Council of Exercise and Sport Science (ACESS). His latest international award was the Biennial Distinguished Scholar Award from the 44th ICHPER.SD Anniversary World Congress in 2002.
Dr. Paulette Cote-Laurence is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, the Hong Kong Institute of Education. Her research interests are in motor learning theory applied to dance, creativity and expert/novice dancers, rhythmic activities for children, and interactive multimedia in dance education. Dr. Cote-Laurence has served as Publication Officer for the Canadian Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation Journal. She has recently joined the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts research team on Training Programs for Dance Education in Hong Kong, China.
Dr. Frank Fu is Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Director of the Dr. Stephen Hui Research Centre for Physical Recreation and Wellness at Hong Kong Baptist University. His fields of expertise are in exercise physiology, comparative physical education and sport, sports medicine, and health-related fitness. Dr. Fu has published extensively in international journals, and written and edited ten books.
Dr. Robert Girandola is Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Southern California, USA. His primary research interests are in nutrition and performance, body composition methodology, and obesity and weight control. Dr. Girandola is currently researching the validation of bioimpedance techniques to measure body fat.
Dr. Herbert Haag is Professor at the Institute of Sport and Sport Sciences, University of Kiel, Germany. Dr. Haag was the first Director of the German Olympic Institute in Berlin. He is Vice President of ICHPER.SD, and member of the Editorial Board of ICSSPE. His research areas are comparative physical education and sport, evaluation of teaching and learning process in sport, sport philosophy, and research methodology in sport science. Dr. Haag has published extensively. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education, and holds an Honorary Degree from The University of Leipzig, Germany.
Dr. Larry Hensley is Professor of Physical Education and Educational Measurement at the University of Northern Iowa, USA, where he currently serves as Associate Director of the School of Health, Physical Education, and Leisure Services. He is a former President of the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, and is on the AAHPERD Board of Governors. Dr. Hensley is a widely recognized scholar in physical education and exercise science, and his areas of expertise include standards-based education, assessment practices in school physical education and exercise epidemiology.
Dr. Mario Imson is a leading Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Physician. He obtained his medical degree from the University of the East and his Physical Therapy degree from the University of the Philippines. He is a fellow of the Philippine College of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Sports Medicine Association of the Philippines. Dr. Imson is currently a senior medical lecturer with the rank of Assocoate Professor at the Baguio Colleges Foundation (now a university) and a consultant of the Baguio Medical Center and other hospitals in Baguio City. Dr. Imson has written numerous papers and has lectured nationally and internationally on sports medicine. He is a founding member of the Asian Council of Exercise and Sports Science (ACESS).
Dr. Zeyi Yang is Professor and Director of the Sports Nutrition Center, National Research Institute of Sports Medicine, China. He is an invited Professor at Beijing Sport University, Nanjing Medical University, and South China Normal University, China. Dr. Yang is a member of the Standing Committee, Chinese Association of Sports Medicine, and Executive Board Member of the Asian Council of Exercise and Sports Science (ACESS). His research interests include sport nutrition, sport biochemistry, sport physiology, and doping analysis.
Dr. Li Wei Zhang is Professor of Sport Psychology and Acting Dean of Studies at Beijing Sports University, China. He has earned two doctoral degrees, one in Physical Education from Beijing Sports University, China, and one in Psychology from Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong-China. Dr. Zhang has published extensively in national and international journals, presented in numerous conferences, and has authored seven books. His research interests are in self-concept and emotion in competition.
