The Education University of Hong Kong
  • Established by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) in 2009.
  • Aims to attract the best students from around the world to pursue PhD studies in Hong Kong.
  • Provides a monthly stipend of HK$28,100 (approx. US$3,600) and a conference travel allowance of HK$14,000 (approx. US$1,790) per year for up to three years. 
  • Additional financial support (monthly stipend) will be provided by the Graduate School for students within the normative period of study (4-Year PhD).^
  • University Accommodation: Guaranteed on-campus accommodation during the normative period of study*
  • One-year tuition fee waiver to the HKPF awardees for the 4th year of study (4-Year PhD)#

Application Procedure

  1. Applications are invited from 1 September 2024 at 12:00 noon (Hong Kong Time).
  2. Submit an initial application to the RGC through their online application system and obtain a HKPFS reference number.
  3. RGC Application deadline: 1 December 2024 at 12:00 noon (Hong Kong Time).
  4. Submit your full application through the EdUHK Admission System and quote the HKPFS reference number
  5. EdUHK Application deadline: 1 December 2024 at 11:59 pm (Hong Kong Time).

#To prevent duplicate benefits, students whose tuition fees are fully waived by any other schemes (e.g., Tuition Waiver for Local Research Postgraduate (RPg) Students offered by the HKSAR Government) will no longer be eligible for the tuition waiver.
