RPg Brown Bag Lunch (22 Oct 2024)
Professor Chetwyn Chan, the Vice President of Research and Development, and Professor Michelle Gu, the Dean of Graduate School, hosted a Brown Bag Lunch on October 22, 2024.
Nine doctoral students from different departments attended the event and discussed their career expectations and research aspirations.
Prof Chan emphasised that researchers should not only apply existing research but also advance their areas of interest through co-creation. He also urged all students to seek new knowledge and expose themselves to different cultures.
The two professors stressed that publications are crucial for building an academic profile as they can enable networking and competitiveness. Drawing on their experience, they encouraged students to utilise support services and incentives to speed up their work and academic output. They mentioned events such as the publication awards as examples of some of the additional opportunities available for RPg students.

RPg Brown Bag Lunch (8 October 2024)
The Vice President (Research and Development), Professor Chetwyn Chan, and the Dean of Graduate School, Professor Michelle Gu, hosted the third Brown Bag Lunch of the academic year on October 8, 2024.
Six PhD students from different departments received valuable feedback after discussing their research and progress.
Professor Chan shared his experience in writing academic papers and problem-solving. Professor Gu added to the discussion by stressing the importance of coordinating research plans with publishing goals. The open atmosphere of the Brown Bag Lunch allowed students to confidently raise issues about academic writing and research plans.
The Graduate School regularly organizes Brown Bag Lunches to foster an informal platform for mentoring within the EdUHK community.

Eight doctoral students from different departments shared their academic backgrounds and research areas while gaining valuable advice about research and career opportunities.
During a casual chat with first-year PhD students, Professor Chan offered guidance on studying and career planning while reflecting on his own academic journey.
Regular Brown Bag lunches are hosted by the Graduate School to provide students a platform to express their thoughts and concerns about their studies.
The relaxed atmosphere of the event aims to boost networking among local and international doctoral candidates.

Six RPg students from different departments and faculties enjoyed an informal lunch with the Vice President (Research and Development), Prof Chetwyn Chan, and the Dean of the GS, Prof Michelle Gu. RPg students shared their research interests and study experiences while gaining valuable advice for their self-growth and future paths.

Professor Chetwyn Chan, the Vice President of Research and Development, alongside Professor Michelle Gu, the Dean of Graduate School, hosted a Brown Bag Lunch on May 16, 2024.
Six doctoral students from diverse fields presented their scholarly pursuits and received insightful counsel pertinent to their studies and prospective career plans.
Professor Chan engaged in a casual dialogue with the first-year PhD students, offering guidance on studying and career planning. Meanwhile, Professor Gu opened up about her research methodologies and day-to-day experiences both within the University and the broader Hong Kong context.
Regular Brown Bag Lunches, organised by the Graduate School, aim to boost networking among peers and encourage doctoral candidates to confidently interact with senior academics.

Professor Chan provided some informal study and career mapping for each of the Year 1 students who attended. Professor Gu discussed research plans and shared her everyday life experiences at the University and in Hong Kong. The casual atmosphere enabled students to build their peer network while gaining confidence in communicating with senior members of the University.
The Graduate School hosts Brown Bag Lunches regularly to create a platform for students to access informal mentoring and knowledge sharing among the EdUHK community.

Professor Chan provided some informal study and career mapping for each of the Year 1 students who attended. Students also had a chance to build their peer network while gaining confidence in communicating with senior members of the University.
