The Education University of Hong Kong

Doctor of Education Programme Orientation (2024 Cohort)

The Graduate School welcomed two new Doctor of Education cohorts with orientation sessions on 29 July (Chinese) and 7 September (English).

Prof Lee Kwai Sang, the Associate Dean of Graduate School and EdD Programme Director, extended a warm welcome to the new students and offered a comprehensive overview of the programmes, including the academic requirements. Dr Zhao Yanmin, the EdD Programme Coordinator, provided detailed information about the course delivery and associated online learning platforms. The doctoral candidates were also briefed on the required research components.

University colleagues from various units were also invited to introduce their respective support services including speakers from the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Centre for Learning, Teaching, and Technology, and Student Affairs Office.  Students were received step-by-step instructions on how to use Moodle, Turnitin, online research tools and databases while appreciating the importance of academic integrity and avoiding plagiarism. Personal needs such as support for non-local students and career development were also discussed.

The orientation sessions concluded with students being encouraged to familiarise themselves with the available resources and network with peers as they progress through the EdD programme.
