The International Postgraduate Roundtable and Research Forum cum Summer School (IPRRFSS) 2024

Renowned scholars share their findings at the International Postgraduate Roundtable and Research Forum cum Summer School (IPRRFSS) 2024 at EdUHK’s Tai Po campus (JULY 9-12, 2024)

The International Postgraduate Roundtable and Research Forum cum Summer School (IPRRFSS) in Education, Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Humanities was officially opened by Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, President of the Education University of Hong Kong.

Professor Lee said the conference's theme, Innovations and Sustainability: Shaping Education and Global Futures, "Reflects how we need to ensure a future where we can continue to learn, communicate and think.” Professor Lee’s comments came as the University celebrates its 30th anniversary in a rapidly changing world, “One of the big questions in recent times has been how to harness AI's positive strengths. EdUHK is at the forefront of critically investigating the role of AI in teaching and learning.” In welcoming the participants to the event, Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, Vice President (Research and Development), remarked, “Safeguarding sustainability is a crucial response to today’s sociocultural and technological developments, and environmental changes. Assuming everyone here shares this belief, I trust that you will find the keynote speeches and the ensuing discussions both empowering and inspiring.”.

12 keynote speakers shared their topics related to Education, Language and Literature, Linguistics, Psychology, and Sustainability (See table below for a list of keynote speakers and topics). More than 300 postgraduate students, alumni, and scholars from more than 20 countries and regions are taking part in the Summer School. They engaged in a variety of activities, including the roundtable session, student presentations, EdUHK students’ sharing sessions, and open house poster presentations. Recognizing outstanding research contributions, the conference awarded 15 outstanding full paper awards to postgraduate students to recognize the excellence of selected papers and promote high-quality research in their fields.

The first day culminated with the Gala Dinner welcoming distinguished guests, alumni, and postgraduate students. Professor Chetwyn Chan, together with Dean of the Graduate School, Professor Michelle Gu Mingyue, led the toast. The forum cultivates a collaborative environment that encourages postgraduate students to transcend disciplinary and geographical boundaries, presenting their research and engaging with individuals from diverse cultures and communities. It also serves as a platform for sharing and discussing research in education, social sciences, liberal arts, and humanities.
