Professor Stephen Y. L. Cheung (the President of the EdUHK), Dr Choi Yuk-lin (the Secretary for Education in Hong Kong), and Ms Yang Jun (the Director of the Education Bureau of Nanshan District in Shenzhen) opened the Forum. Principals and policymakers from Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Macau, presented papers to over 250 principals and other educators across the GBA.
Professor Cheung praised APCLC's GBA strategy and hoped that 'EdUHK would collaborate with fellow educators to address the challenges in educational practice, to lead the enhancement of education in the GBA and build a world-class education together'. Dr Choi applauded the event, stating, 'We need gatherings like today to facilitate further dialogue and reciprocal learning between schools in the GBA. More integrated learning will help us better understand each other and provide two-way knowledge exchange to allow us all to grow as leaders.' Ms Yang introduced Nanshan District as the third largest expat centre in Mainland China and the first experimental zone for educational internationalization in the basic education sector. She appreciated EdUHK, APCLC and EPL for 'setting up a great platform to learn from the peers across the GBA'.
