Director of Student Affairs Ms Angie Yeon Yuk-mei said, “Our graduates are highly sought-after in the education sector, as evidenced by the employment figures. With great emphasis on innovative teaching, and information and communication technology (ICT) in our undergraduate curricula, our graduates are well-equipped with professional and all-round knowledge. This echoes the latest trends of the school sector, amidst the prevailing teacher shortage and the resulting proactive recruitment strategy.”
In addressing the possible impact of the demographic changes, Ms Yeon was upbeat about the employability of EdUHK graduates. She advised them to get well-prepared and set clear goals for themselves.
Associate Vice President (Academic Affairs) and Registrar Professor May Cheng May-hung said that according to the latest round of JUPAS reprioritisation, EdUHK’s BEd programmes in Chinese History and Physical Education are highly popular among DSE candidates, with 41 and 37 applicants, respectively, competing for each place.
She added that EdUHK has launched a wide range of multidisciplinary programmes to meet societal needs, covering artificial intelligence and educational technology, sports science and coaching, and integrated environmental management.
“Leveraging our traditional strengths in teacher education, EdUHK has expanded its programme offerings to cover more multidisciplinary subjects, in line with our Education-plus approach. In this ever-changing world, we hope our students can excel in terms of innovation, creative thinking and ICT capacity,” she said.
