EdUHK Presents Honorary Fellowships to Two Distinguished Individuals

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has named two distinguished individuals as Honorary Fellows in recognition of their remarkable contributions to the University, the education sector and the wider community. They are (in alphabetical order of surnames):

•    Ms Pau Chun-ping
•    Mr Dieter Yih, JP

EdUHK Council Chairman Dr David Wong Yau-kar presided over the Honorary Fellowship Presentation Ceremony, which was held on the Tai Po campus today (30 June).

EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung paid tribute to the award recipients. Professor Cheung said they were leaders in their respective fields, and role models for young people and the University’s graduates. “Committed to promoting Chinese culture, Ms Pau is a philanthropist, who spares no effort to preserve cultural heritage for the next generations,” he said. “Mr Yih contributes to society through his expertise in the legal profession. We are deeply grateful for his wise counsel and dedication during his 10 years of service on the EdUHK Council.”

Professor Cheung took the opportunity to express his sincere gratitude to his team, friends of the University and the school sector for their unfailing support over the past decade. “I firmly believe in the irreplaceable role of teachers in impacting lives, even as times change and technology advances,” he said when offering advice to prospective teachers.

The Honorary Fellowship Presentation Ceremony has been held since 2009 to recognise outstanding members of the community who have devoted their efforts and talent to their roles as school principals and teachers, or exemplary leaders in various professions, businesses and industries.
