EdUHK’s Scholars Shine Worldwide Professor Jim Chi-yung and Professor Wong Ming-hung Once Again Earn Recognition
Two distinguished scholars of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) have once again earned international recognition. Professor Jim Chi-yung, the Research Chair Professor and Advisor of Geography & Environmental Science at the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies maintained his top position in ‘Single-Year Impact List’ and ranked the first in the ‘Career-Long Impact List’ of the World’s Top 2% Most-cited Scientists 2024 in forestry, repeating the same achievements of 2023; while Professor Wong Ming-hung, Advisor (Environmental Science) at the Department of Science and Environmental Studies, has been named in the 2024 Highly Cited Researchers List released by Clarivate Analytics.
The World’s Top 2% Most-cited Scientists compiled by Stanford University is divided into the Career-Long Impact List and Single-Year Impact List. Professor Jim Chi-yung, also known as ‘Dr Tree’, is recognised internationally as a leading researcher, educator and advocate for understanding, conserving, creating and refining nature in cities. He has published over 450 scientific papers and books, and has accumulated more than 43 years of teaching and research experience in both conceptual and applied domains. He consequently stands out among over 35,000 forestry scientists worldwide.
For his part, Professor Wong Ming-hung has been named in the 2024 Highly Cited Researchers List which, according to Clarivate Analytics, comprises a total of 6,636 scholars from 59 countries and regions worldwide. The selected scholars have demonstrated excellence in their research disciplines, having published influential publications and papers that are highly cited and ranked in the top 1% by citations.
Professor Wong has been elected a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) and is a leading expert in the fields of environmental science and ecology. He led the recent research project, “Portable Aeroponic Culture Unit”, which won the silver medal this year at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival and also a silver medal and special award at the International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada.
EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin extended his warm congratulations to the two outstanding scholars for their remarkable achievements. He said that EdUHK will continue to advance its research infrastructure to support scholars and researchers in fully leveraging their influence in research and innovation, enabling them to continue to reach new heights in their professional fields.
