EdUHK Running Team Strives for the Best in the Hong Kong Marathon 2025

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) running team participated in the annual Hong Kong Marathon today (9 February). EdUHK staff, students and alumni were on hand to cheer the team members on.


EdUHK also set up a meeting point booth at the Causeway Bay Sports Ground to serve as a dedicated space for the runners to recharge and provide a gathering point for the EdUHK family to show support for the athletes. 


EdUHK faculty members, including EdUHK Acting President Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, Vice President (Administration) Dr Tom Fong Wing-ho, Dean of Students Professor Bill Yeung Chi-ho, Department of Health and Physical Education Senior Lecturer Dr Lobo Louie Hung-tak were there to lend their support and show their appreciation by handing out goodie bags after the race.


Professor Chetwyn Chan said, “I am grateful to our staff, students and alumni for their participation in this event. The runners’ passion and perseverance demonstrate individual resilience and embody EdUHK’s team spirit. As an elite athlete friendly university, we dedicate to participate in similar activities in the future to showcase and spread the vitality and positive values of our university.”


Participating in the 10-kilometre race, Dr Fong, who is an experienced runner, said, “Running the marathon with EdUHK staff, students and alumni is a rare and valuable experience. The support along the way is truly uplifting and drives the runners to keep pushing on. Through this event, we show how the spirit of unity at EdUHK can help us promote the spirit of the marathon, and contribute to the advancement of educational development.”


EdUHK held its first-ever Hong Kong marathon running team kick-off and flag presentation ceremony previously to encourage participating staff, students and alumni. It was also part of the second Caring for Life and Wellness Carnival.
