EdUHK Holds Second Caring for Life and Wellness 2025 Carnival
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) organised the ‘Caring for Life and Wellness 2025 Carnival’ once again this year on 14 February. The carnival promoted positive values education, a caring culture, and pet-friendly environment, encouraging the University’s senior management, faculty and staff members, and students to participate in a variety of activities on campus and enjoy a pleasant afternoon.
Officiating the opening ceremony were EdUHK Council Treasurer Ms Imma Ling Kit-sum, President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, Vice President (Academic) Professor May Cheng Hung-may, Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, and Vice President (Administration) cum Chairman of the Caring for Life and Wellness 2025 Project Committee Dr Tom Fong Wing-ho, as well as the senior management, officiating.
The ceremony was also attended by Tai Po Home Affairs Department Senior Liaison Officer Ms Queenie Wong Sze-man, Tai Po District Council members Mr Lee Man-kit, Mr Li Wah-kwong, Mr Chan Tsz-kin, and Mr Lo Hiu-fung, as well as representatives from organisations which support the University.
EdUHK Council Treasurer Ms Imma Ling Kit-sum said, “In addition to the ‘Caring for Life and Wellness Carnival’, I am delighted to learn that EdUHK has recently revamped a range of campus services to enhance user experience and is committed to caring for and improving the well-being of our staff and students, creating a pleasant working and learning environment.”
Addressing the ceremony, EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin said, “EdUHK has always encouraged everyone to focus on their physical and mental well-being through participating in sports and various activities, while promoting positive energy and values. In hosting the ‘Caring for Life and Wellness Carnival’ for the second year, we hope that everyone can find a balance among work, study, and their overall well-being, adding joy to their lives.”
EdUHK’s Tai Po campus was filled with performances, booths as well as workshops. Social enterprises and non-governmental organisations also set up booths to raise awareness about socially vulnerable groups and promote a culture of care and inclusivity.
Meanwhile, ‘star athlete’ alumni also joined EdUHK staff and students in doing stretching and exercise. These included former Hong Kong, China rowing team representative Ms Lee Ka-man, who has transitioned into a Pilates instructor, and former Hong Kong, China team karateka Mr Lau Chi-ming. The EdUHK fencing team also offered fencing lessons for participants.
A dedicated pet zone was also available this year, allowing faculty and staff to bring their furry companions back to campus to participate in various activities, such as pet massages and agility courses.
