EdUHK Holds Info Day for Undergraduate Admissions – Attracts Nearly 10,000 Participants

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK)’s Information Day (Info Day) was held on 26 October 2024 (last Saturday), providing students with the latest information on full-time bachelor's degree programmes and admissions. The event attracted nearly 10,000 secondary school students, parents, and others interested in further studies, both in person and online.

The Info Day featured a variety of activities, including programme briefings, workshops, exhibitions, student performances and four University-wide admissions talks that provided information on JUPAS and Senior Year admissions, as well as for student-athletes and Mainland JEE (Gaokao) applicants. Participants were able to gain a better understanding of EdUHK's admissions criteria and programme features through the interaction with our professors, students and staff members. They were also informed about planning their academic paths and career prospects.

Through the Info Day, the University further promoted the curriculum reform for the academic years 2025 to 2028. Under the theme "Education Futures, Diverse Talents", EdUHK is enhancing its programme structure to foster continuous innovation, while leveraging its traditional strengths and providing students with a diverse competitive edge. Three new Bachelor programmes, namely Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Speech Pathology and Rehabilitation, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Digital Chinese Culture and Communication and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Personal Finance will be introduced starting from the 2025/26 academic year.

Beginning with the 2025/26 cohort, all 13 five-year Bachelor of Education programmes will be revamped into Double Degree programmes. By combining non-education degrees with education-related bachelor's degrees, students will enhance their understanding of existing educational fields, while also gaining a wider array of knowledge. This integration will allow students to deepen their primary educational knowledge and gain diverse insights, enabling them to impart related knowledge to their future students and meet societal needs for expertise.

Under the new arrangement, students enrolled in the five-year Bachelor of Education Double Degree programmes will also participate in internships related to the non-education programmes, to gain experience and broaden their perspectives. Some of the integrated programmes will enable graduates to teach both primary and secondary school courses simultaneously, meeting the education sector's increasing demand for professional teachers.

EdUHK emphasises the cultivation of talent and will raise the total amount of entrance scholarships by 40%, bringing it to nearly HK$25 million for the 2025/26 academic year, to attract more outstanding students to enrol on its undergraduate programmes.
