EASE Fund Awardees to Kick off Start-up Projects

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held a signing ceremony today (29 May) for the Education and Social Entrepreneurs Fund (EASE Fund) winning teams to officially kick off their start-up projects.

Attending the ceremony were EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Lui Tai-lok, Project Manager of Wofoo Social Enterprise Ms Phoebe Wan, and the teams’ academic advisors. The EASE Fund winning teams were presented certificates and cheques for their start-up projects, and the agreements were then signed.

This year, five winning teams were each awarded a year’s seed funding of HK$150,000 to implement their business ideas related to education and social innovation. The University will provide diverse resources, including mentorship support and marketing opportunities, to enable the teams to unleash their full potentials and eventually scale up.

In his welcoming address, Professor Cheung congratulated the winning teams on their outstanding performance. “I believe, with the seed money and a wide range of support from the University, these young entrepreneurs shall endeavour to create positive impacts for Hong Kong and beyond through their innovative projects,” he said.

Professor Lui said, “It is hoped that the teams can continue to keep their entrepreneurial spirit and to explore new horizons, in promoting education and social innovation.”

The EASE Fund was established in 2018 and is the University’s first scheme for entrepreneurs featuring education technology, and education and social innovation. It provides seed grants and comprehensive support to EdUHK students and alumni to start up their ventures. Please click here for the information of this year’s winning teams.
