Dr Leung Chi-hin, Assistant Professor at the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts (CCA), The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), is a composer whose works blend elements of East and West, reflecting his diverse cultural background and his keen interest in timbral and textural explorations. He has received numerous accolades, including the Gold Medal and Top 20 Best Invention Award from the International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada, the Gold Award from the International Innovation and Invention Competition, the Gold Award from Hong Kong Techathon+ 2024, and the EdUHK President's Award for Outstanding Performance in Knowledge Transfer and Teaching, as well as the Research Impact / Knowledge Transfer Prize from the Dean’s Research Awards. Selected compositions and recordings by Dr Leung have been published by Schott Music (Germany), MOECK (Germany), Donemus (the Netherlands), Edition HH (UK), PARMA Recordings (USA), From the Top Music (USA), Oxford University Press (China), and the Hong Kong Composers' Guild. His works have been featured in prominent events such as the ISCM World New Music Days, the UNESCO International ‘Arts for Peace’ Festival, the International Rostrum of Composers, the International Electronic Music Week, World Choir Games, the International Handbell Symposium, the ISME World Conference on Music Education, the Asian Composers League Festival, the Asian Recorder Festival, the Asian Saxophone Congress, the Singapore Saxophone Symposium, the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival in Vienna, the Taipei Traditional Arts Festival, Musicarama, the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, among many others.

 

Beyond his remarkable artistic achievements, Dr Leung holds key positions within the music community. He serves as the President of the Hong Kong Association for Music Educators and the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Composers' Guild, demonstrating his strong commitment to promoting and advancing music composition and education. Additionally, Dr Leung lends his expertise as a Board Member of the International Society of Music Education and holds the titles of Apple Distinguished Educator and Apple Learning Coach. He also serves as an Expert Adviser for the Arts Capacity Development Funding Scheme under the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, an Examiner for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, and a member of the Committee on Venue Partnership within the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
