The Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association Hong Kong (PECERA-HK) 2024-2025 Annual Meeting cum Young Scholars Conference, co-organised by the ECE Department, was held on 11 January 2025. Dr. Lau Yi Hung, Eva, Acting Head of the Department, attended the event as representative of the University and the Department.
Our PhD student, Ms. Zeng Xinying, who is also the recipient of the PECERA International Young Scholar Award 2024, presented at the conference with the topic of “Family Socioeconomic Status Predicts Child Executive Functions: Child Routines as a Mediator". The department’s associate heads/associate professors, Dr. Alfredo Bautista and Dr. Chan King Chung, Derwin, presented at the Research Writing Workshops during the conference, sharing helpful tips for young scholars to advance their research career. Moreover, more than 10 students and early career scholars from the Department presented in the peer-reviewed paper and poster presentations.
Our department has been thriving to engage with industry associations for creating opportunities to stakeholders and synergy for the industry development, in order to foster collaboration among academic and research sectors. The event was a great opportunity for students and young scholars to interact with seasoned academics for the betterment of the field of early childhood education.
