MEd Connect Alumni Sharing Session: Connecting and Collaborating for New Directions in Early Childhood Education

2024-06-21

MEd Connect is a platform under the Department of Early Childhood Education at The Education University of Hong Kong. It was established to facilitate meaningful connections among master's students in the field of education.  It aims to reach the mission of fostering robust "MEd connections" and facilitating seamless "Knowledge Transfer" endeavors.

MEd Connect successfully hosted its inaugural Alumni Sharing Session on March 22, 2024, at the Morton Terrace Activity Center. This momentous occasion featured esteemed guest speakers, Ms. Crisel Consunji, the co-founder of early childhood education center "Baumhaus" and a MEd alumni (also Awarded Actress of the Hong Kong Film Awards), and her accomplished husband, Mr. Carsten Rakutt. Through their heartfelt and enlightening presentations, attendees were privileged to gain invaluable insights and relish a delightful and convivial afternoon.

During the sharing, Crisel and Carsten offered a captivating narrative of their enterprising journey since 2015, in which they have transformed Baumhaus into a “nurturing and homely haven” for over 25,000 children in the past decade. They firmly believed that the environment plays a pivotal role in fostering children's exploration, growth, and creativity. Stressing the significance of a stimulating environment, they highlighted its ability to cultivate confident children, while emphasizing the importance of a high-quality curriculum in nurturing diverse abilities. In bustling Hong Kong, their overarching goal was to establish genuine and robust connections between children from various backgrounds and personalities, as well as the broader community.

Throughout the enlightening session, Crisel and Carsten passionately urged all participants to "find your dream". Baumhaus stands as a testament to the manifestation of their aspirations, and they earnestly wished for each individual to uncover their own dreams, foster innovative thinking in the realm of early childhood education, and forge new pathways towards progress.

Looking ahead, MEd Connect is committed to organizing regular sharing sessions, inviting accomplished alumni from diverse fields as guest speakers. The primary aim is to harness the collective power of alumni, foster meaningful connections and facilitate knowledge transfer.
