CSDCU Education Fund and the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education (CSENIE) will do their best to meet the needs of students from different backgrounds. From macro perspective of the development trend of special education in the world, this course covers classroom management, school management practices, and career development and counseling. Besides, the course includes visit to Hong Kong special education schools and institutions so as to equip the students with knowledge on special education philosophy, curriculum design, assessments, and rehabilitation technology and service models. With support from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation and Correctional Services Department Credit Union Education Fund, the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education has greatly facilitated its strategic development. The centre is providing special education training, academic exchange opportunities with educational institutions and rehabilitation organisations for teachers in mainland China. This is done through intensive programmes and engagement in special education setting in Hong Kong.

Sponsored by Tin Ka Pin Foundation, Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education (CSENIE) organized a special education academic and service exchange program between March 29 and April 4. The program aimed to broaden the horizons of undergraduates who are interested in special education so as to enable them to understand the development of special education in Mainland by visiting different special education organizations. CSENIE also cooperated with scholars and students from Teachers College of Chengdu University (TCCU) to enable the students from both places to gain more knowledge on special education and a sense of responsibility by service learning.

Professor Kenneth Sin Kuen-fung, Director of the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education (CSENIE) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), and Dr Poon Chung-yee, Assistant Project Manager, led a team of 30 people to Xi’an in Shaanxi province, China from 11 to 14 December 2016 for an academic exchange. Sponsored by the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the exchange activities were designed to allow participants to visit special education units in the mainland and study the development of special education services to broaden their horizons.
