Project Introduction

Different from introducing via lectures, this project developed the learning and teaching materials on local religious buildings by incorporating core elements of the experiential learning pedagogy, including designing learning activities in authentic settings at religious buildings wherever applicable. More than “learning about religion”, the idea of “learning from religion” are also adopted. Lesson plans are developed to illustrate how learning and teaching activities can be structured to promote students’ appreciation of the Chinese culture, humanistic qualities and spirituality through experiential learning at local religious buildings. Tryout of the developed lessons plans are conducted and opinions from different stakeholders are collected for finalization of the lessons plans.

Outcome

• Developed lesson plans to illustrate how learning and teaching activities can be structured to promote students’ appreciation of the Chinese culture, humanistic qualities and spirituality through experiential learning at local religious buildings;
• Developed the teaching materials for different culture and religious through experiential learning at local religious buildings; Provided the training workshops on the application of relative teaching materials;
• Benefited local teachers and students of Key Stage 3.

Activity Highlights:

Dissemination of Learning and Teaching Resources

Teachers from different Secondary schools attended the event of the Dissemination of Learning and Teaching Resources.

5 religious leaders in Hong Kong delivered blessings and appreciation to teachers who have made great effort in teaching in times of epidemic.

The interaction between teachers and keynote speakers took place to facilitate the effective use of the learning and teaching resources.
