Engaging the Hong Kong Community
Engaging the community is fast becoming a central focus of many arts groups and practitioners in recent years. Artists are beginning to reflect on the social, economic and educational relevance of arts while at the same time the divide between ‘high arts’ and ‘popular arts’ is becoming less prominent. This has prompted some artists to spend considerable efforts in promoting their arts in ingenuous ways. This plenary session focuses on sharing by 4 successful key players in the field of musical performance in Hong Kong to illustrate their success stories on how to springboard a boosted interest among growing sections of the community in orchestral music, a cappella, children choral performances and Cantonese Opera. It is hoped that their examples might spark off interesting discussion among participants in this Conference.© 2015 The Asia-Pacific Symposium for Music Education Research apsmer@ied.edu.hk
