Dr HO Chun Sing Maxwell
Lecturer, Department of Education Policy and Leadership
Maxwell is a Lecturer of the Department of Education Policy and Leadership, and Scholar-Practitioner Fellow of The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change of The Education University of Hong Kong. Maxwell commenced his teaching career in secondary business education after receiving his Bachelor of Education (Business Studies) degree at the Education University of Hong Kong (First class honours) in 2008. He further earned a Master of Arts in the Chinese University of Hong Kong and his doctorate from The Education University of Hong Kong.
Maxwell’s research interests include teacher entrepreneurialism and school leadership education. He has conducted school-based middle leadership and entrepreneurial teachers training programmes in local schools since 2019. He is keenly interested in business and financial education and launched An Adaptive Blended Learning Platform for Business Teachers and Students to Work as a Learning Community, a QEF-funded project to promote adaptive blended learning in 2019. The programme has produced 208 videos covering 24 topics of the BAFS curriculum, with 26 schools benefited from the project.
Prof Allan WALKER
Co-director, Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change
Allan Walker is Research Chair Professor of International Educational Leadership and Co-director of The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change (APCLC) at The Education University of Hong Kong. Previously he had served as Joseph Lau Chair Professor of International Educational Leadership, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Human Development and Director of APCLC. Prior to joining the EdUHK, he has worked in universities in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong and has conducted leader development courses and research in America, Europe and across the Asia Pacific.
In 2010 and 2011 he was made a Fellow of the Australian Council for Educational Leadership and endowed chair professorship by The Education University of Hong Kong respectively in recognition of his outstanding research and academic achievements in international educational leadership globally, especially in South and Southeast Asia. In 2015 he received the Edwin M. Bridges Award for significant contributions to the preparation and development of school leaders from the University Council of Educational Administration.
Allan serves on the editorial boards of the top-ranked journals in his field and has published extensively on educational administration and leadership, and leadership development and learning. His work also explores the relationship between culture and leadership. He has published over 300 books and articles with international publishers and in the world’s most prestigious academic journals. His most recent book is Deciphering School Leadership in China: Conceptualisation, Context and Complexities (co-authored with Qian Haiyan). Allan can be contacted at adwalker@eduhk.hk.
Dr Darren BRYANT
Head and Associate Professor, Department of Education Policy and Leadership
Darren Bryant has worked in the Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change (APCLC) since 2010 and the Department of Education Policy and Leadership (EPL) since 2012. During this period, he has served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Educational Administration — the oldest journal in its field and has led innovative undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including the MA in International Educational Leadership and Change, a fully online degree programme. Currently, he is Associate Director of the APCLC, and Head of EPL.
In 2011, Darren completed his PhD at The University of Hong Kong following 12 years as a history and social sciences teacher in a through-train primary-secondary school. This work included leadership roles as department head and curriculum coordinator. As a result of such experiences, Darren's research has included foci on middle leadership and leader development.
Dr LU Jiafang
Associate Head and Associate Professor, Department of Education Policy and Leadership
LU Jiafang received her doctoral degree in Applied Psychology from the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership (EPL) and Associate Director (Change Research and Development Programmes) for the Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change (APCLC), at The Education University of Hong Kong. She is fascinated with studying emerging phenomena in school leadership teams, leadership development, as well as factors enabling teacher collaboration and innovation. Her research projects have been funded by highly competitive grant schemes such as Early Career Scheme and General Research Fund of the Research Grant Council of Hong Kong. She shares her interest with a similar enthusiasm for translating knowledge in these areas into leadership development and school improvement.
