When is the Asia Leadership Research and Development Roundtable 2012?
  Sunday -Tuesday, March 11-13, 2012
  • Sunday 5:30p.m. - 9:00p.m. (optional dinner, self-financed)
  • Monday 8:45a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday 8:45a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
2. Where is it being held and where will participants stay?
 
  • Lodging : Bong Sen Hotel (a room will be reserved in your name). The Bong Sen Hotel is about 35 minutes away from the airport by taxi.
  • Meeting venue : The Roundtable is going to be held at the Palace Hotel which is a 2-min walk from the Palace Hotel.

3. Do I need a visa to visit Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam?
  Most foreigner national need an Entry visa to Vietnam.

Vietnam Visa exemption is granted to:
  • Citizens of Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Laos for visits of 30 days at the maximum.
  • Citizens of Philippines for visits of 21 days at the maximum.
  • Citizens of Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia and Finland for visits of 15 days at the maximum.
  • Citizens of Brunei for visits of 14 days at the maximum.
  • Citizens of France holding valid diplomatic or official passports for visits of 90 days at the maximum or several visits of 6 months at the maximum.
  • Citizens of Chile holding valid diplomatic or official passports for visits of 90 days at the maximum.
  • APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) Holders from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies for visits of 60 days at the maximum.
 
4. How will we get from the airport to the conference venue?
  HCMC International Airport to the conference venue
Fixed price taxi coupons can be purchased inside the airport immediately outside of the baggage claim for about 160,000 VND (~USD$8)
5. How do I book a hotel room?
  Unless otherwise advised in advance, your room bill for March 11th and 12th will be covered by the Roundtable. You will be responsible for all other expenses incurred.

7. Who is attending?
  Participation is by-invitation-only, and limited to 60 scholars, training managers, policymakers, and principals from about 15 countries / territories in the region and beyond.
8. What are the goals of the Roundtable?
  Our goals for the Roundtable 2012 are to:
  • Share research findings related to the instructional leadership globally and in East Asia;
  • Highlight perspectives from researchers, policymakers and school leaders the exercise and development of instructional leadership both in primary-secondary schools and in higher education;
  • Share methods of studying instructional leadership;
  • Highlight policy tools being used to foster instructional leadership.
9. Do I need to write a paper for the Roundtable?
  We do not require participants to submit formal papers for the Asia Leadership Roundtable 2012. If you wish to submit a paper, however, we will publish it as an APCLC monograph under the joint logos of APCLC and IRED. A selection of papers will be submitted for consideration in special issues of international journal. We request that participants submit papers from 1,500 to 5,000 words in length. Topic should revolve around “Leadership and Learning in Asia Pacific: Challenges for Research and Practice”
10. Will I make a presentation of my paper?
  Participants will not present their papers. The format of the meeting will emphasize interaction, not academic paper presentation.
11. When is my paper due?
  If you choose to submit a paper, the schedule is as follows.
The abstract is due on February 15 th, 2012, and the full paper is due on June 1 st, 2012.
12. Will there be visual audio aids for presentation?
  For the opening speech, provocateur sessions, and keynote speeches, computer generated projectors will be provided.

For the Mixed Group Discussion session, whiteboard and markers will be provided. If you want us to print any handouts or poster for you, please send to us (APCLC@ied.edu.hk) no later than March 8, 2012.
13. What will be the weather in Ho Chi Minh City?
 
The weather in March is warm and rather dry. The temperature during a day ranging from 23 to 33 degree Celsius is quite pleasant. It is not necessary to bring along umbrella and raincoat during your trip in this month.
