Considering the fact that in school context the same principal leadership behavior
often leads to dramatically different effects on school performance because of the
differences in how the behavior is implemented, it is important to study the topic of
the ways leadership behavior implemented. Utilizing the method of interview to collect
data, this paper analyzes how a principal changes students’ behaviors that are not
beneficial to their learning, including consuming soft drinks/candies and littering in
school and not wearing safety helmets on the way riding to school. This paper finds out
that the principal followed several principles to implement leadership behavior,
including observation and reflection, communication in and out of school, rational
persuasion, modeling, and adhering to the original educational concept. This paper
concludes by arguing that the principal utilizes the idea of “school leadership as a
craft” proposed by Blumberg (1989) to fulfill the task.
