傑出學生獲香港賽馬會獎學金
Four local students and one mainland student at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) received the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Scholarship at the Presentation Ceremony cum Graduation Celebration Dinner on 10 July 2018, attended by Professor Lui Tai-lok, Vice President (Research and Development), and Professor Winnie So Wing-mui, Chairperson of the Committee on Scholarships and Prizes at EdUHK.
HKJC awards scholarships to students in recognition of their outstanding academic performance and commitment to serve the community. Each of the nine participating institutions awards four scholarships to local students (including one student with special educational needs) and one scholarship to a mainland student. The scholarship covers the students’ academic and living expenses for the normal duration of their study programme. The scholars are selected based on their outstanding academic ability, their community service records and other talents. Shortlisted candidates have to attend an interview with HKJC. Renewal of the scholarship is subject to the students’ satisfactory performance. Scholars are encouraged to continue their community service through the Jockey Club Scholars Alumni Association and to channel their time and resources to benefit society.
Also in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the HKJC Scholarships, President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung and former and current Jockey Club (JC) scholars from EdUHK joined the 2018 Community Day Race Meeting on 21 April 2018, along with over 200 representatives from the Club’s tertiary education and community partners.
Since the establishment of the HKJC Scholarships in 1998, the Club has contributed some $400 million through its Charities Trust, supporting over 500 JC scholars in the eight government-funded universities in Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. A recent expansion of the scheme benefits graduate students, students with special educational needs and students in vocational education programmes.
