Advances in technology allow us to circumvent language barriers and cover large distances, while diplomatic and political developments have blurred national borders and narrowed the gaps between social groups. At the same time, warnings of information overload share newspaper headlines with reports of rising loneliness. Are we actually one great family or simply alone together - connected or disconnected?
