Inspired by the idea of danshiri (斷捨離), this mass event aimed to promote the concept of green campus and a simple lifestyle to students through experiential learning opportunities. The project started with a kick-off ceremony held on 10 October. Staff and students joined hands to turn around 500 recycled glass bottles into a mass EdUHK logo, aiming to cultivate the idea of “green and simple lifestyle” on campus.

Over 26 sessions of workshops, exhibitions and community services were conducted with over 500 students and staff participation. These activities not only strengthened participants’ knowledge of green life and enriched their learning experiences through multiple platforms (such as eco-tour, site visits and environmental upcycling workshops) but also encouraged them to reflect on their lifestyles. A 24-hour climathon, our first overnight international program, was conducted in EdUHK with CarbonCare Open Innovation Lab on 27 and 28 October to brainstorm environmental improvement with elites around the globe.

The campaign provided students with an opportunity to choose their suitable green lifestyles and acted as an encouragement to make self-improvements and peer influence. The event benefited over 800 participants with the learning experiences it provided.
