2016–17: EdU Santa – The Caring Ambassador
EdU Santa aimed at promoting a caring culture and bringing joy to the campus and the local community. Eighty students were recruited as Santas to participate in various community services with 9 external parties. After a series of training on communication, service provision to different deprived groups and event management, 800 service recipients were served in 11 service sessions between November and December.
On 1 December, more than 300 staff and students gathered at the Central Plaza to support the event – EdU Santa cum Guinness World Record Attempt for “The Most Letters to Santa” by collecting over 2,000 letters to Santa to show appreciation, encouragement and wishes to a friend in EdUHK within 24 hours. Over 2,500 students and staff were actively participating. The Guinness World Record has officially announced EdUHK as the new world recorder of “Most Letters to Santa Collected in 24 hours” in June 2017.
