EdUHK Women’s Volleyball Team Secures Runner-Up Title at USFHK Volleyball Competition 2024-2025

Our Women’s Volleyball Team delivered an exceptional performance at the 2024-2025 Inter-University Volleyball Tournament, organized by the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China (USFHK), on March 15, 2025. The team clinched the runner-up position, marking a historic milestone in their ongoing journey of excellence.

The Women’s Volleyball Team exemplified EdUHK’s perseverance and spirit of continuous improvement. Building on past successes — fifth place in 2021-2022, fourth in 2022-2023, and third in 2023-2024 — they elevated their game this year. The team dominated the group stage, winning all five matches to secure first place and advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, they swept their opponents in straight sets, earning a spot in the finals for the first time in eight years.

The championship match was a thrilling contest. Despite a strong start, the EdUHK team struggled in the first two sets after failing to capitalize on early leads. However, fueled by the enthusiastic support of the President Prof. John Lee, Vice-President (Research and Development) Prof. Chetwyn Chan, and approximately 100 staff members and students, the EdUHK team won the third set. Though they ultimately fell to a 1-3 defeat, the fast-paced finals showcased the EdUHK Women’s Volleyball Team members’ resilience and skills. We are all proud of their progress, and we know they will be determined to make a comeback next year.

The President and the Vice-President (Research and Development) would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the EdUHK Women’s Volleyball Team, as well as staff, alumni, families, and friends for their support throughout the competition, and those who are dedicated to EdUHK’s sports in different positions.

Although we faced tough losses by just 1 point in both preliminary matches, which kept us from the finals, we fought back and secured victory in the third-place match. This experience has empowered us, and we believe it will fuel our ambition to achieve even greater results in future university competitions.”

We congratulate the EdUHK Women’s Basketball Team on their accomplishment and commend them for their hard work, passion, and commitment to excellence.
