CLOC: International Kindergarten Attachment Scheme

Offering Unit Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE)
Course Synopsis This course aims to provide students a unique opportunity to a unique opportunity to engage themselves in the vibrant environment of international kindergartens within the local context. Through this hands-on experience, students will engage with diverse curricula and teaching practices, allowing them to apply and refine their teaching skills in real-world settings. The course emphasises theory-based reflections, enabling students to critically analyse their experiences and enhance their pedagogical strategies. Additionally, the authentic setting fosters the development of professional behaviours and attitudes, preparing students for successful careers in early childhood education.
Target Students
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education) (one-year full-time) [PGDE(ECE)]/
  • Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Early Childhood Education) (five-year full-time) [BEd (ECE)]/
  • Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education (two-year full-time) [HD(ECE)]

Notes to Students

1. Attachment Period:

  • The IKA attachment period encompasses any five days between 26th May 2025 and 13th June 2025. Participants will be notified of their attachment dates in due course.

2. Credit Points Earned (for non-graduating students only):

  • Non-graduating students who complete the CLOC course can earn ONE credit point. The earned credit points and the grade “YC” (i.e., Complete) will be recorded on the students' Transcript of Studies. However, the credit points earned will not be included in calculation of GPA nor the credit points for fulfilling the graduation requirement.
  • *Students can take CLOC courses on a voluntary basis and earn a maximum of 6 credit points during their study period of the programmes.

3. Alternative Recognition for Graduating Students:

  • Graduating students will receive a certificate of attachment in lieu of credit-bearing recognition.
