Dr Wang Zhenlin, Assistant Professor of the Department of Psychology, shared the findings of a joint research by EdUHK and the University of Cambridge. Covered in six newspapers. Dr. Wang spoke about Hong Kong children lagged behind their UK counterparts in terms of Theory of Mind (ToM) development, an ability to understand other people’s thoughts and beliefs so as to comprehend their thoughts and predict their behaviors. As ToM is crucial to children's social interactions and future development, Dr Wang advised parents should spend more time chatting and playing games with their children, adding that they could also read picture books together. She also suggested that local schools can adopt an enquiry-based learning approach which can help students develop thinking and analytical skills.
