Meet Our New Staff

With the passionate in teaching and the use of different educational technologies, I hope students are inspired, motivated to learn intrinsically and they can construct their knowledge proactively.

Mr. CHENG Wing Hong Wilson

(Lecturer II)

I’m Wilson, a lecturer teaching IT subjects and the Subject Coordinator of BEd(S)-ICT. I am very pleased to join Department of MIT since Jan 2022. I have more than ten years of teaching experience in Computer subjects and mathematics.

I try my best to make the learning journey of my students more fun and interesting. My teaching interests include coding and computational thinking, artificial intelligence, mobile app design and development, database, computer networks, etc. Feel free to share your thoughts, and chat with me. I look forward to continuing contribute my knowledge and experiences to EdUHK’s community.

Dr. Shurui BAI, Tiffany

(Assistant Professor)

Hi, I am Tiffany, and I am very happy to join the MIT warm family.

My research interests lie in technology-enhanced learning, gamification, and intrinsic motivation to learn. In my spare time, I like hiking, swimming, and learning Japanese culture.

In MIT, I received a variety of resources to support my teaching and research development in designing, testing, and innovating instructional strategies to enhance student course engagement and intrinsic motivation in a technology-infused class.

In the future, I wish to have more opportunities to collaborate with scholars from different disciplines and countries to conduct research on instructional design in the educational technology field.

Dr. Manpreet Singh

(Lecturer I)

My name is Manpreet Singh, and I have recently joined the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology (MIT) as a Lecturer.
While my doctorate in computational radiation physics has given me, extensive experience using mathematical calculations to solve actual radiation physics problems, it was my education degree that ultimately enabled me to make a name for myself as a teacher.

My years of teaching in linguistically and culturally diverse classrooms in Hong Kong with students from non-Chinese speaking southeast Asian nations have further influenced me to change my teaching philosophies from teacher-centred to student-centred by incorporating educational technology tools. Aside from that, I have presented my instructional strategies for non-Chinese speaking students at several teacher training workshops and symposiums hosted by government and non-government organizations.

As a part of the MIT family, I am excited to focus on STEM education while preparing the students to create a technology-rich learning environment using metaverse classrooms, interactive simulations, robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

This is the mission statement I set for myself in my teaching career. I believe that the best learning outcomes result from a careful blend between didactic lectures and active learning activities, both with the support of technologies. I have been following this pedagogy in my own teaching throughout the years.

“Reinvent education with pedagogy, technology, and passion.”

After completing my B.Sc. and M.Phil. with a focus on theoretical and computational physics at HKUST, I became a teacher in higher education in 2004, teaching in areas of physical science, IT, mathematics, statistics, and research methods at sub-degree and degree levels. In 2011, I decided to pursue further studies in education, and in 2017 I completed my Ed.D. at University of Bristol, specializing in flipped classroom. I joined EdUHK as a Lecturer in August 2022. I enjoy my work at EdUHK and would like to contribute more to AI, STEM, and general education in the future.

Dr. HY Cheung

(Lecturer I)

I also take part in educational research and serve as reviewer and guest editor for academic journals and conferences. My research interests include flipped classroom, blended learning, coding education, and STEM education in general, from theory to design and implementation.

Hello Everyone, I'm delighted to join the MIT family as an Assistant Professor, and you may already know me from my courses.

If you have any questions about artificial intelligence (AI) in your studies, please do not hesitate to contact me. You are also welcome to discuss AI projects and competition ideas with me anytime. I look forward to seeing all of you on campus and in my classes. :-D

It is my pleasure to share my knowledge and experience in classical machine learning and deep learning with you all.
