Library

The Education University of Hong Kong Library consists of the Mong Man Wai Library located at the centre of Tai Po Campus and the Tseung Kwan O Study Centre Learning Commons, offering a full range of information resources, services and facilities.

The Mong Man Wai Library and the Tseung Kwan O Study Centre Learning Commons occupy a total floor area of over 7,800 square metres and provide seating for over 1,300 readers. The Library has a diversified collection in all subjects and it houses one of the most comprehensive education collections in the Asia-Pacific region, including over 961,000 items of books, print journals and multimedia materials in addition to over 49,200 e-journals and over 118,100 e-books. Through the Library’s Inter-library Loan and Document Delivery services, the Hong Kong Academic Library Link (HKALL) and the JULAC RAPID document delivery service, postgraduate students can easily request and get access to books and journal articles not immediately available at HKIEd. They can also apply for JULAC Student Cards allowing them to access and borrow books in the other seven UGC university libraries.

Study Area for Postgraduate Students

To facilitate peer support and interaction with staff, a comfortable environment is provided for postgraduate students to study, to exchange ideas in small groups, and to do their research. The Study Area for Postgraduate Students is located in the office of Graduate School at B4–G/F–02 and open for postgraduate students throughout the year. The area is equipped with resources and facilities such as computers, printer, scanner, microwave, fridge, newspapers, and books. Students are most welcome to drop by anytime according to their own schedule.

 

Student Services

Counselling and Career Services

A wide range of programmes and services are offered to enhance your personal growth and career development. Counsellors are there to help you resolve personal, interpersonal, emotional, academic and family problems. Assessment tests and workshops are conducted to strengthen your self-understanding, psychological wellness, interpersonal relationship and learning style. Career education and job search skills training programmes are also organised to help you understand your career interests, map out your career plan, as well as increase your employability. On the jobsite “Ed Job Plus", you can find a wide range of career resources, easily access job vacancy information as well as apply to jobs online. Industry and graduate recruitment seminars are open to postgraduate students for networking and meeting prospective employers.

Health Service

Located on the first floor of the Administration Building, the Health Centre provides medical and dental services for all students. It also organises health education programmes in the form of seminars, talks, games and exhibitions on a regular basis.

Student Accommodation

To create a better living-learning environment for research postgraduate students, the University provides four Research Postgraduate (RPg) Flats within the Jockey Club Student Quarters (JCSQ). Each RPg flat has 2 large single bedrooms, 2 small single bedrooms, 2 shared twin bedrooms and its own sitting/dining areas, terrace, kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms. A telephone is provided in the sitting/dining areas for use by students. All student halls/quarters are covered with Wi-Fi network and individual computer ports are also provided in each of the bed rooms.

For non-local postgraduate students on self-funded programmes, the University does not guarantee on-campus accommodation, but students may apply for temporary accommodation in our Tai Po campus subject to availability of places. Students may visit the Off-campus Housing Information Platform (http://www.eduhk.hk/sao/offcampus) for basic information on renting accommodation outside the campus, or contact Student Affairs Office via email offcampus@ied.edu.hk for assistance.
