"Zippy's Friends" launches in Shanghai

Launched in Hong Kong two years ago by UK-based Partnership for Children and the HKIEd, the Chinese version of the "Zippy's Friends" education project for children's emotional well-being, was extended to Shanghai in May 2006. With HKIEd support in teacher training, project development and evaluation, the East China Normal University will manage the project with a generous donation of HK$2.42 million from the Hongkong Bank Foundation. By late 2009, about 20,000 children are expected to have benefited from "Zippy's Friends" with over 1,280 teachers being trained in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
