Research Grants Council visits HKIEd in June 2006

On 15 June 2006, we received our first visit from the Research Grants Council (RGC). At the start of the visit, the 35-member team was given an overview of HKIEd's research activities via an introductory session presented by the Senior Management. This was followed by a comprehensive display of the Institute's research projects and their findings in the different domains.

The visitors then broke up into three sub-groups to explore our research activities in greater depth through direct meetings with academic staff and students. The groups rounded up their stay with visits to diverse displays showcasing our current research activities, as well as the output and results of these programmes.

In his concluding remarks, the RGC Chairman made some very positive comments with regard to the visit. This was reconfirmed in a subsequent letter dated 16 August 2006 to the Institute, which reiterated that the RGC Members were impressed with the high level of morale and commitment of the Institute staff in quality research / scholarship which has a strong applied dimension to meet the needs of the local community.
