Yingjun was studying at the East China Normal University when, in 2002, she successfully obtained a Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship to undertake the Bachelor of Education (Languages) Programme in the English major at the HKIEd. Reflecting on her early days at the Institute, Yingjun had humble memories. "You know, the standard of English in the Mainland is generally lower than that in Hong Kong and I had a rather hard time during my first year here. Although school work was really heavy, the great consolation was that both my tutors and classmates were very friendly to me," she recollected.

In fact, Yingjun speaks fluent English and her language skills were fully demonstrated when she gave an outstanding stage performance in the English drama "Macbeth" and "Pride and Prejudice". It is obvious that, apart from the devoted tutelage she has received, she has worked hard to improve her English in the last four years.

Yingjun loves drama and thinks that acting helps to polish her linguistic skills and enhance her appreciation of English literature. Moreover, she believes that acting gives her the best training in confidence building. "Never retract and always challenge one's own limits" has become Yingjun's motto in pushing herself further.
