Dr. Cheng Tak Lai attended the 8th Roundtable Meeting Asia-Pacific Network for Holistic Education in Kyoto, Japan, from 28 to 30 March 2025, co-hosted by the Japanese Society for Holistic Education/Care and the Doshisha Well-being Research Center. He presented a paper titled “Reflective Journal Writing: A Pedagogical Tool for Fostering the Holistic Growth of Undergraduate Students on Short-Term Study Abroad Tours,” emphasizing its role in enhancing students’ personal, academic, and intercultural development.
Dr. Cheng’s research highlights the significance of structured reflective practices in improving the organization and effectiveness of short-term study abroad programs. By integrating reflective journal writing, universities can deepen students’ learning experiences, fostering self-awareness, intercultural competence, and critical thinking skills.
