Dr. Xing Weiyan and Ms. Yvette Leung from IE attended the 69th CIES Annual Meeting in Chicago from 22 to 26 March 2025. Weiyan presented his research and joined panels on higher education for sustainability, international and comparative education, and higher education management, gaining insights to enhance his projects and teaching. Yvette presented research in two sessions, including one on Shadow Education within a Special Interest Group (SIG), receiving valuable feedback that enriched her work.
The conference also offered networking opportunities. Yvette connected with scholars from institutions like East China Normal University, Soka University, and Georgetown University, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and potential collaborations. She explored inviting them as guest speakers for her courses (PFS6064, EDS6004) to expose students to diverse global education perspectives.
Overall, their participation advanced their research and teaching, highlighting the importance of international academic exchange in deepening understanding of education across cultures and regions.
