IE’s Jason Lin visited Harvard University from 5 to 23 August 2024. During his visit, he gave a public talk titled "'I know it is controversial, but…’: Civic Teachers in Hong Kong in the Post-National Security Law Era,” which was attended by over 25 people. This visit helped promote his work and the university. He met many scholars, both established and early career, from various universities, including Harvard University and Boston University. Additionally, he intends to co-write a few papers and co-apply for some grants with them.
Jason also attended the 2024 British Educational Research Association Conference from 8 to 14 September, held in Manchester, UK. He presented a paper titled "Is there truly a way forward? ---- Chinese Education in Malaysia after half a century of Protest." Attending the conference advanced his current research and teaching duties, as the conference theme was highly relevant to his work. He met many scholars from universities such as UCL and the University of Manchester. Jason plans to co-host an international mini-conference for Early Career Researchers on the philosophy of education at EdUHK.
On both occasions, Jason discussed opportunities for future collaboration and plans to invite some of these scholars to visit EdUHK in the future.
