Since last year, the MA(GSE) Programme has been dedicated to providing students with opportunities to visit international schools, enabling them to gain valuable insights into the international education sector and experience a vibrant learning environment firsthand. Feedback from the previous cohort indicated a stronger interest in establishing careers in Hong Kong rather than in Mainland China.
In response to this, we have coordinated with the Yew Chung International School of Hong Kong (YCIS Hong Kong) to arrange a half-day school visit on March 20, 2025. The visit was well received, with a total of 29 students participating, led by Ms. Yvette Leung, Dr. Euan Auld, and programme administrative staff.
After a warm welcome from Ms. Sze, the Chinese Co-Principal of YCIS Hong Kong (Secondary), the visit began with an introduction to the Yew Chung Yew Wah (YCYW) Education Network, followed by a presentation on the bilingual learning community advocated by YCYW. Participants were then divided into three groups for class observations focused on Years 7 to 9, where they had the opportunity to see how a multicultural and bilingual learning model is effectively integrated with project-based learning in the classroom.
During the Q&A session, Ms. Sze discussed her career development at YCYW and offered insights into potential career paths in the field of international education that students may consider after graduation. The engaging visit concluded with a group photo taken at the school entrance, capturing the memorable experience.
