Assistant Professor Dr. Susannah Sun from the University of Saint Joseph, Macao, was invited by Dr Xiao HAN Ivy (an Assistant Professor in IE) to give a guest lecture for her course titled “PFS6057 Contemporary Global Challenges” at the Education University of Hong Kong on 29 October 2024.
During the lecture, Dr Sun shared the background information about the non-tertiary education in Macao and how such system is influenced by the trend of globalization. She then traced the evolution of non-tertiary education system in Macao with special attention paid to the following changes after Macao’s handover back to China. She highlighted the tensions and gaps between the private and public parts in Macao’s educational system and its practical implementation.
The lecture was attended by 77 master students, who all expressed positive feedback. They are particularly interested in the lecture’s focus on the comparison of the three different non-tertiary educational systems, namely, mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao during the discussion time.
