Sustainable Procurement Guidelines
The Education University of Hong Kong, in fulfillment of its mission, is committed to support sustainable procurement practices that include:

Minimise and reduce the need for products and services whenever possible.

Avoid purchasing single-use disposable items.

Avoid Purchasing and using of woodfree white paper as far as possible.

Use recycled paper wisely: only print when necessary.

Purchase products with recycled content or reuse where possible.

Choose products with minimal packaging.

Support fair trade products and engage services of social enterprise where feasible.

Choose recycled products and products of high recycled content.

Choose electrical appliances with greater energy efficiency, e.g. choose one carries the EMSD Energy Label and is highly rated.

Comply with all applicable local legislations and regulations, and whenever possible, the guidelines or best practices of sustainable procurement.
Catering outlets at EdUHK has ceased using styrofoam tableware and other single-use plastic materials since April 2024. In addition, a routine review on the use of printing paper has been carried out. It achieved a reduction of 3% use in the past 12 months.
