FEHD launched its 2022-25 Faculty Strategy today, and the hybrid event gathered over 120 guests and Faculty members.
The new FEHD Leadership team, led by Prof Bruce Macfarlane, Dean of FEHD, gave an overview of the strategy based on four pillars – education and the student experience, research and enterprise, internationalisation and local engagement, and staff and ways of working.
For education and the student experience, Prof Sylvia Tang, Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) and Dr Eric Cheng, Associate Dean (Quality Assurance and Enhancement), shared how the Faculty will further strengthen the quality of the curriculum and enhance students’ learning experience with virtual teaching and learning (VTL), authentic learning experiences and global perspectives.
For research and enterprise, Prof Sue Saltmarsh, Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies), talked about the Faculty’s future plans for fostering a culture of collaborative interdisciplinary research, building research capacity, as well as enhancing enterprise, impact, and knowledge transfer activities in Hong Kong and Beyond.
Prof Lim Cher Ping, Associate Dean (International Engagement), also presented the internationalisation and local engagement strategy. The Faculty aims to develop and strengthen collaborative partnerships with schools, institutions and organisations locally and internationally, and establish local and international interdisciplinary networks to address key education issues of equity, quality, and efficiency.
FEHD values our staff members and supports them to strive for quality outcomes. In his remarks, Prof Macfarlane addressed the importance of staff diversity and inclusivity. He also encouraged Faculty members and Departments to strengthen staff well-being and improve post-pandemic ways of working.
Apart from the presentation, participants also enjoyed meeting new academic and teaching staff and interacting with the Faculty leadership team.
“Over the last few years, FEHD has identified a vision, a mission, values and priorities, and aspirations. This strategy will identify how we are going to achieve these commitments, and will provide us with a clear and positive future direction,” said Prof Macfarlane.
By moving everything we do to the NEXT LEVEL, we strive to be a world-class provider of academic learning and research that meets the highest standards of excellence and results in measurable improvements in the lives of students, their professions and the communities in which they live.
