The First Asian Education Doctoral Summer Institute (AEDSI) was launched by FEHD and the Faculty of Education at East China Normal University (ECNU) from 24 August to 26 August 2022.
The event, Navigating the Doctoral Journey, brought together over 400 doctoral students from EdUHK, ECNU and 105 universities worldwide.
16 academics from different universities, educational institutions and publishers shared their experiences of their PhD, and gave advice on career paths and development.
Prof LIM Cher Ping, Associate Dean (International Engagement) of FEHD, said, “The first AEDSI brought doctoral students from top universities such as Seoul National University, National Institute of Education, Singapore, Oxford University, University of California, Los Angeles, The University of Melbourne, Peking University, Universiti Putra Malaysia, and the University of the Philippines Diliman. Such gatherings strengthen our global connections in spite of the challenges brought by the pandemic. ”
Prof CHEN Shuangye, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education at ECNU expressed her enthusiasm for future collaboration. “The first AEDSI was designed by a group of doctoral students at EdUHK and ECNU. We are happy to see that the event built a peer network and community for Asian doctoral students. It will foster future collaborations in research between Hong Kong, Shanghai, and wider Asia.”
