Dr Miron Bhowmik Endeavours to Foster Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at EdUHK

The FEHD Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (FEHD-O-EDI), led by Dr Miron Bhowmik from the Department of Education Policy and Leadership (EPL), has been playing a crucial role in supporting the university’s  mission to assist students in achieving quality outcomes in their learning, teaching, and research endeavours since 2018.

Under the leadership of Dr Bhowmik, the office conducted extensive consultations with students from diverse backgrounds to understand with greater nuance their holistic experience at EdUHK, and the associated challenges they face. In response, a range of support services were introduced, including individual assistance, safe spaces for open discussions, celebratory events, wellbeing workshops, guest lectures, and informative briefing sessions. The students expressed their appreciation for these services, recognising the support and opportunities they were provided for connection and personal growth. Dr Bhowmik’s expertise and service has contributed to meaningful engagement with diverse communities and fostering an inclusive environment within EdUHK and wider Hong Kong society.

FEHD-O-EDI was established by the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) in 2018 to embrace and nurture diversity among students and staff. For more details, please see the article on EdUHK Learning and Teaching Newsletter (page 81-82).
