Our very own Assistant Professor, Oldac, Yusuf Ikbal [EPL], recently attended the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) 2025 conference in Chicago, Illinois. This prestigious event is the largest academic gathering for international and comparative education researchers. During the conference, Dr. Oldac presented his research on multiplexity vs. multipolarity in global higher education, specifically focusing on Southeast Asia's knowledge production. In his presentation, Dr. Oldac highlighted the increasing role of small to medium research systems and pan-national regions in global knowledge production. The presentation was well-received and sparked engaging discussions among attendees.
Additionally, Dr. Oldac was elected to the committee leading the Southeast Asia Special Interest Group (SIG) of CIES last year. Since his committee leadership, the SIG has successfully tripled the number of panels and presentations it holds, demonstrating significant traction and interest from the academic community.
