Dr Luo Jiahui Jess, Assistant Professor at EPL, has won the annual Editors' Choice Award from the Journal Teaching in Higher Education. The awarded paper is:
Luo, J. (2024). How does GenAI affect trust in teacher-student relationships? Insights from students’ assessment experiences. Teaching in Higher Education, 1-16. https://doi.org/10.1080/13562517.2024.2341005
This is an annual award that the Executive Editorial team launched to recognise exceptional research published within the journal during the previous calendar year. On awarding the paper first place, the Editors commented that:
“The study by Luo raises issues around imbalances in staff and student use of Generative AI tools, pointing out ways in which power is exercised in HE by staff. It points out that students are typically asked to declare any use of Generative AI tools in their work, but that similar transparency is not usually required of staff in terms of how they use Generative AI tools. This represents a significant issue for staff in Higher Education to address, given the way in which relationships between staff and students are central to teaching.”
