Putting into practice-Debate
- This is an activity developed by Evelyn J. Brouwer (MERLOT).
- The purpose of this activity was initially to review six significant philosophical schools in education and their application to real contexts.
- Learning objective:
- To review the major philosophies in education
- To become familiar with a variety of teaching theories
- Tasks:
- Choose three different theories, read about them, and match each one to a philosophy of education: perennialism, existentialism, progressivism, social reconstructionism, humanism, essentialism.
- There may not be an exact match to a
philosophy, however, choose one and explain your rationale for your matching.

- Choose one teaching method among various approaches taught
- Argue how this approach match your expectation
