EdUHK Signs MOU with Uzbekistan University to Promote Educational Transformation in Belt and Road Countries
The President of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung led a delegation to Uzbekistan recently, during which an MOU was signed with the National University of Uzbekistan, the oldest and largest public university in the country.
Under the new partnership, both universities will strengthen cooperation in scholarly exchanges and research. The collaboration will also cover several areas, including student and staff exchanges, joint research projects, seminars, and organisation of seminars and workshops.
Welcoming the collaboration, Professor Cheung said that Uzbekistan is an important partner under the Belt and Road Initiative, and EdUHK is committed to deepening the academic exchanges with universities there, consolidating and fostering the professional development of local higher education teachers, and promoting knowledge transfer between the two places. Professor Urishevich, Rector of Uzbekistan National University, said that the agreement marks a new stage in efforts to promote cooperation between the two regions.
Additionally, a trilateral meeting was hosted by Samarkand State Medical University (SSMU), at which the delegation met with Professor Jasur Alimjanovich Rizaev, Rector of SSMU and Professor Alexander Fedorov Rector of Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.
During the meeting, the three parties exchanged views on collaboration, including the establishment of a tripartite alliance. The delegation also visited the campus and museum of SSMU, the oldest medical institution in the region, to learn about its historical development.
